Here’s how our model works: We make really good entertainment non-stop, and provide it straight to you via our shop, as well as free via sites like YouTube. Our aim is to make it affordable & rewarding to legally own our creations – The corporate world has made "legal" into some kind of despicable, prohibitive term conjuring up images of jail terms if you fail to comply, but that is not the point of law, the point is (at least should be) to give all parties involved what they are entitled to. In order to "restore the law" in this new frontier, we have created a license program that delegates prices according to need, and rewards our most loyal fans. Here’s the lowdown:

1. When you buy a download, say a song, you will be directed back to a special license (so be sure to follow the “return to merchant” link!), which contains a special code. Save it, it is both a permanent link to your downloads (you get 3 per license) and it’s redeemable towards hard goods! As they become available they will include things like: cd’s, dvd’s, graphic novels, posters, & clothing. Buy enough stuff, you help us, and so we help you. Why it’s so simple the RIAA probably could have thought of it! Well, maybe not.

2. Pay what you think it’s worth. Downloads start at a base price of just 89 cents, cheaper than iTunes and most other corporate run stores. But if you want to give a little something extra, you can add it on top to show us you appreciate our efforts.

3. Big supporters get big props – If you donate seperately, you will receive a place of honor on our Supporters list, and the opportunity to tell our fans your thoughts, something about yourself or your business. Great for you and would make the many hours we slave over things like our many free videos and webcasts feel a little bit lighter.

About The Owners

Voxhouse Studio isn’t some corporate think-tank that is only focused on maximizing profit margins while throwing together whatever we think you’ll eat up based on trends and market research. Yes, it’s a real business, in a real building, but we are a very small, tight-knit group of artists & musicians who share similar philosophies & creative goals, and have decades of collective expertise in a multitude of fields. First and foremost we produce the type of content we believe the world needs more of, stories & songs with meaning.

VoxHouse also opens our expertise in graphics, film, animation, sound, music and web to others with dreams of their own. We can provide production & consulting services upon request, at rates that are affordable even in the recent struggling economic climate.

And incidentally, VoxHouse is owned and run by Henrik Ryosa, which is probably why you see his name everywhere. Check out his bio, which tells you a little bit about his career to date.

Film & Animation

We like drawing stuff and making it move. One such thingie we’re making is called BRUTE. Critics call it interesting, creepy, and other more colorful adjectives. We call it jolly good fun, and it had better be, because it’s going to be a delightful series aimed at true auteurs of both animation and philosophical adventure. And when I say delightful I of course mean brutally excellent and badass. Yeah that’s what I mean. Cough…

Music

VHS has quite a history with music, I’ll tell ya. We’ve made it in more styles than you can shake a stick at, and have a great library of it for you to download free or purchase from as little as 89 cents a track (that’s cheaper than iTunes and incidentally, we get more from it directly), or to license for film or game projects. Need custom soundtrack work? Definitely doable. We’ve also been known to mix & master albums for other artists upon request.

Progress 2010-06-17 23:26:53 Things are indeed progressing, and between developing in-house initiatives & client jobs I am chipping away at remaining nitpicks I have with the studio site. Content is always a good thing and I'm working out the best layout to let people see what's new easily. To do that I've introduced a tab showing recent / current projects. Other areas have been improved a little bit, but actual output on Brute and music has suffered a little due to the need to oh, make money. These two things are labors of love for sure at present. You'll see some news on that front soon though. One more thing you might see pop up is a space for my random doodles, a sort of stream of consciousness webcomic / art space.

Turd Is The Word - Or: The Reason Hollywood rarely does anything right

You know the drill – you shell out ten bucks for a film, or flip on the telly. Besides being forced to sit through a bunch of brain-numbing advertisements, you’re met with something you feel you’ve seen a million times before, except they’ve managed to somehow make it worse. In frustration, you walk out halfway through what you’re watching, because despite the fact that you were dumb enough to pay for it, you can’t tolerate the crapositude (I exercise my right to make up words!) laid forth before you, and take the remainder of the cost hit as some kind of symbolic fee for preserving what’s left of your sanity.

Then, you spend the next hour or so wondering, yet again, why the people in Hollywood are such idiots – do they really think people want what they’re dishing out? Is there really anyone with a truly creative bone in their body making decisions of what ends up on your doorstep to consume? The answer is quite simply “no”, and here’s why I think that is. The answer is ironically, in front of us.
